Supervisor Jake McGoldrick is
the District 1 Supervisor and represents the Richmond District. He has always
been a supporter of the Parks Department and a staunch advocate of increasing
green public spaces for all to enjoy. He believes that the children and
families that use Cabrillo Playground deserve a safe place to play. He supports
the renovation of Cabrillo Playground and thinks that it deserves to be
the next top priority for capital improvements in the Richmond District.
We look forward to having him join us at our next meeting! To link to his website: Click here To help him stop recall abuse and use the money that would otherwise be used on a recall election for our parks: Click here. |

Dorje and I live next door to Cabrillo Playground. I grew up in this house and recently returned after living in Seattle, Gulf Coast Mississippi, Honolulu, Santa Barbara and many other places internationally. It's great to be back in my beloved San Francisco. But I was very sorry to see how Cabrillo Playground had degraded. I have so many memories attached to the playground. As a child, I learned to play chess in the clubhouse and my dad taught me how to ride a two-wheeler there. We used to have ping-pong tournaments, doll shows and pot-luck dinners for the neighborhood in the clubhouse. Wouldn't it be nice for the playground to be the magnet that really brings the neighborhood together again.

Our family lives a few blocks away from Cabrillo Playground. We moved to San Francisco 3 years ago and we love the outer Richmond for its friendliness and for all the wonderful families we have met here. At the first Parks Department meeting we attended, our eldest son wrote "Cabrillo Playground doesn't have a slide that goes around as it goes down." This got us noticed and the representative from the Parks Department told our son that if we worked hard he could have one. If that isn't a motivator, we don't know what is!

We are "new" residents to the Richmond, moving here about18 months ago. My wife, Joanne, and I are married just over 2 years. And newer still is our 7 week old daughter. Having a playground so close to our home on 38th Ave is great, and we look forward to the time when Chiara is old enough to enjoy it.
